Reed-Dunning Property Now Belongs to City

Chicago State Hospital (Dunning) in 1908

Ownership of the Chicago-Reed grounds will quietly (somewhat) pass into city hands. After fifteen years of control by the Alter Group, the property will now be developed by the city. Watch for the TIF.

It is curious that you talk about a TIF, as it already exists: The Read-Dunning TIF. It has been in exixstance for about 10 years, The 'real' question is what the City will do with the approximately 50 acres they received??? There are several desires presented: (a) a park, (b) a high school, (c) 10 acres for a Wright college expnasion-sorely needed and othe dreams.
You refer to the area as 'Belmont Heights". The area is refered to: Community17, Dunning" on City maps. Belmont Heights, at presently as a neighborhood of Dunning. Belmont Heights, as presently described, is located west of Harlem and north of Belmont.
